Scary - I was saying almost exactly the same thing in a conversation a couple of days ago!
The only problem with that line of thinking though, is that our western democracy governments, especially the US, are busy staying the hand of corporate Darwinism by giving out huge bailouts to these very same corporate dinosaurs, just because they employ large numbers of people.
What they should be doing is letting them go under and instead piling all that money into the successful companies that have proven their worth and would be able to put all those people made jobless to work, doing productive work for their national economies. Dont agree? just ask all the former communist block countries how that idea worked out for them.
Oh and mandating "reciprocal" executive bonus schemes wouldn't hurt either. I for one have no problem with an executive getting huge bonus's if they vastly improve the productivity or market success of their compaines but likewise if they fail, they need to share personally in the pain. Otherwise it far too easy to spend other peoples money, just ask the politicans...
